  • Flames Head to Atlanta, Take On Georgia Tech Tuesday in NIVC Quarterfinal

    LYNCHBURG, Va. (liberty.edu/flames) -- Liberty (21-11) continues its postseason run, competing at Georgia Tech (23-8) on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at O'Keefe Gymnasium. The Lady Flames downed La Salle (3-2) on Saturday before defeating High Point (3-1) on Sunday, with both matches in the Vines Center. Georgia Tech hosted first and second-round matches for the second year in a row, defeating Alabama A&M and Troy.
  • Five @ASUNVolleyball Players Named To AVCA All-Region Team

    ATLANTA, Ga. - Five ASUN Conference Volleyball players were named to the 2019 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Region teams on Tuesday. The 2019 ASUN Champion Kennesaw State Owls were well represented, as ASUN Setter of the Year, Lexi Broadwater and teammate Lauren Chastang earned spots on the South Region Team while Quin Sutphin earned All-Region Honorable Mention accolades. FGCU's Dana Axner earned a spot on the Southeast Region Team, while teammate Cortney VanLiew was tabbed Honorable Mention.

The Lady Flames open up NIVC play on Saturday at 7 p.m. at  the Vines Center against La Salle (15-13, 8-6 A-10). The winner will face the winner of High Point (20-12, 12-2 Big South) and Morehead State (23-9, 12-4 OVC), Sunday at 3 p.m.

The Flames improve to 19-10 to earn their second consecutive trip to the ASUN Championship Semifinal. 
  • @ASUNVolleyball Postseason Awards Announced; FGCU Earns Four Individual Honors

    ATLANTA, Ga. - The 2019 ASUN Conference Volleyball Regular Season Champions, FGCU, claimed four of the five league's top honors honors on Wednesday night at the annual awards banquet. FGCU's Cortney VanLiew was named the Player of the Year for the second-straight year, while Dana Axner claimed her second Defensive Player of the Year honor in unanimous fashion. The Eagles' Erin Shomaker was tabbed the Freshman of the Year and Head Coach Matt Botsford earned Coach of the Year after guiding the Eagles to a 14-2 conference record and their second-consecutive ASUN Regular Season Title.

    Fort Myers, Fla. - The 2019 ASUN Conference Volleyball Championship opens play on Thursday even with two contests in the First Round. The No. 4 Lipscomb Bisons and No. 5 Stetson Hatters tangle in the first match at 5 PM ET on ESPN+. Lipscomb searches for their 15th-straight appearance in the semifinal, while Stetson looks to make their first semifinal appearance since 1995.

Kennesaw State and Lipscomb earned wins in Jacksonville with the Owls sweeping the Dolphins and the Bisons defeating North Florida, 3-1. Stetson battled back after dropping the first set to North Alabama to earn a 3-1 road win.
