NFCA Recognizes Four @ASUNSoftball Squads and 45 Student-Athletes for Academic Success

ATLANTA, Ga. – Four ASUN Conference Softball teams made the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division I All-Academic Team List announced this week by the Association. Three league squads earned recognition among the top-100 grade-point averages (GPA) in the country. 

Lipscomb, North Florida and Stetson ranked in the top-100 this past year, with the Bisons' collective GPA of 3.499 earning them the 38th spot. The Ospreys rank 66th on the list with a 3.411 team GPA while the Hatters rank 97th at 3.320. Additionally, Liberty ranks 137th with a 3.050 team mark. 

Kennesaw State had an ASUN high 12 student-athletes receive a mention on the list of Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes. Lipscomb followed close behind the Owls with 10 honorees while North Florida had nine. Liberty and Stetson each had seven student-athletes earn recognition. 

The rankings and honors recognize the academic prowess of softball teams across the Association's membership categories. NCAA Division III led the way with 1,928 student-athletes earning a 3.50 grade-point average or higher for 2018-19. NCAA Division I and Division II followed with 1,769 and 1,306 honorees. High School weighted and High School unweighted earned 1,225 and 793 distinctions. NAIA and two-year programs each amassed 570 recipients.
