MACON, Ga. - FGCU took down North Florida by a score of 3-2 Tuesday afternoon to complete a series sweep of the Ospreys and in turn claimed first place in the Atlantic Sun Softball standings heading into the final weekend of action.
North Florida at FGCU
Game three between FGCU and UNF started slow, as both Janet Snipe and Gabbee Draney settled in and found their groove early. That changed in the third inning however, as both offense came to life. The Ospreys struck first, capitalizing on a leadoff triple from Ashley Niesman who would come in to score after an RBI from Shelby Duncan. Much like yesterday's game two, the North Florida lead would be short-lived as the Eagles struck back in the bottom half of the inning, using a Louie Ross RBI single and a two-RBI double from Racquel Fournet to take a 3-1 lead. The score would remain before UNF tallied another run, again with an RBI from Duncan, to draw within 3-2, but sensational freshman Riley Randolph would appear for her second save in as many games to shut down the Osprey offense. FGCU now sits at 10-5 in conference action heading into the final weekend of regular season play, while North Florida falls to 5-10.
