DeLAND, Fla.
- Behind a 4-2 finish to the match, the FGCU Eagles are the 2019 ASUN Conference Men's Tennis Championship winners. The Eagles have now won two of the last three titles, defeating reigning champion North Florida this year.

The Ospreys came out on fire in the match, claiming the doubles point after each of the three matches were fairly even through the first half of the sets. Each match finished with a 6-4 score as No. 2 Jorge Nunez and Federico Nani claimed a win on court two while court three was won by Dominik Barton and Till Von Winning for UNF. FGCU took one of the doubles matches, getting a win on the top court by Felipe Escobar and Mateo Ruiz.

Singles play began in the Ospreys' favor with No. 1 Sahil Deshmukh clinching a straight-set victory vs. Jose Montes. A member of the 2019 All-Tournament team, Deshmukh added Montes to the list of All-Conference honorees he topped in the ASUN Championship.

From that point, everything went FGCU's way as the teams split first sets in the singles rotation 3-3. Two of those first-set wins set up straight-set finishes for the Eagles, led by Felipe Ramirez on court two and then Javier Fernandez on six. Third sets were needed for the remaining three matches with FGCU taking its first lead of the day behind a win on court three from Felipe Escobar vs. Till Von Winning.

All-Tournament MVP Marcelo Tebet clinched the match for FGCU, holding serve to win 6-3, 4-6, 7-5 vs. Nilo Duarte of UNF. Tebet had his serve broken once before in the final set that could have sealed the championship, but saw a Duarte return hit the net to clinch the title for FGCU. Tebet was joined on the All-Tournament team by fellow Eagle Juan Montes.

The Eagles now earns an automatic berth into the NCAA Men's Tennis Championship. FGCU awaits its fate for the draw with regional play set to begin soon at a yet-to-be-determined date and place. All-Time in the NCAA Championship, FGCU has made two trips with an 0-2 record following losses to Florida and UCLA.
