Ospreys Battle to #ASUNMTEN Semifinals Appearance, Face Liberty Next

DeLAND, Fla. 
- Third-seeded North Florida moved on to the ASUN Men's Tennis Championship Semifinals with a dramatic 4-2 victory vs. No. 6 Lipscomb on Friday night. After taking the doubles point, three tightly contested singles victories clinched the win for the Ospreys.

Doubles action was highlighted by wins at the Nos. 1 and 2 spots for UNF. The top pair of Nilo Duarte and Sahil Deshmukh topped the top Lipscomb pair by the score of 6-2, followed by Jorge Nunez and Federico Nani claiming their own 6-2 victory at the second spot in the rotation.

Singles victories for the Ospreys came from Nunez, Charley Castaing and Federico Nani. Nunez and Chastaing each claimed straight-set victories at the No. 4 and No. 6 spot respectively while Nani had to fight through three sets to claim his victory and the match-clincher at the No. 5 spot. After dropping the first set, Nani finished with a 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 final score. 

With the win, North Florida advances to meet Liberty in a 2-3 matchup in the ASUN Semifinals. Game time is slated for 11:30 AM ET at the Cummings Gymnasium Courts on Stetson's campus.

Due to the threat of inclement weather, the ASUN Tennis Championships schedule has been rearranged to best fit matches in tomorrow. Both women's matches will occur at 9 AM ET, held at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center and the Cummings Gymnasium Courts located on Stetson's campus. The men's matches will follow, slated to begin at 11:30 AM with one at each site as well.
