ATLANTA, Ga. - ASUN Conference Men's Tennis had every member in league play last weekend and saw some big action take shape as the journey towards the ASUN Championship began. Included in the winners on the weekend were Liberty who won each of its first two league matches and North Florida taking a rematch of the ASUN Championship vs. Stetson.

FGCU took a sweep of NJIT at home behind six straight-set victories in singles play. Javier Fernandez took the biggest win of the day from the No. 6 singles spot, claiming a 6-0, 6-0 victory vs. Juan Bejarano. This victory for the Eagles marked the fifth all-time vs. the Highlanders and third in regular season conference play since NJIT joined the ASUN in 2015-16.
Liberty took a pair of wins on the weekend to open up its first run of ASUN action at 2-0. The Flames started with a 5-2 win at Kennesaw State, claiming four of the singles matches to take the victory. Three of the singles bouts went the distance with Liberty winning all three at the Nos. 2, 4 and 5 spots. The next day, a trip to North Alabama led to a 7-0 win for the Flames for the team's first sweep in ASUN history. Josh Wilson went three sets for the second-straight match, outlasting his opponent at the No. 2 spot to begin his ASUN career at 2-0 in singles play.
Lipscomb opened with a win in ASUN play for the third-straight year with a 6-1 decision vs. North Alabama in the Lions first-ever ASUN match. Four Bisons limited their foes to two points or less in straight-set victories including Victor Chaw, Jorge Ortegon, Pedro Uribe and Francesco Tacconi. A 2-0 start is on the mind for Lipscomb when facing Kennesaw State at home on Thursday afternoon.
In a rematch of the 2018 ASUN Championship Final, North Florida defeated Stetson 5-2 to even its ASUN record at 1-1 on the year. The Ospreys were led by Sahil Deshmukh who took both matches he took part in including a straight-set singles bout that improved his record to 7-3 at the top spot during the dual season. Three singles matches had to go into a third set with UNF's Dominik Barton and Nilo Duarte claiming victories for their side. The defending champs look to go above .500 in league play vs. NJIT next weekend.
