This week's episode features FGCU Men's Soccer Head Coach Jesse Cormier following the Eagles' successful weekend in the State of Michigan. Coach discusses the mentality of the team entering the opening weekend trip, along with the team's identity and mindset during the offseason in preparation for the 2019 campaign. With a pair of undefeated opponents (Seton Hall & Georgia Southern) coming to the FGCU Soccer Complex this weekend for the home-opening weekend, Coach Cormier gives a brief outline of the game plan against the Pirates and Eagles.
FGCU is coming off a very successful opening weekend road trip to begin the season. The Eagles defeated No. 13 Michigan by a 4-3 score before playing 2018 NCAA College Cup participant No. 7 Michigan State to a 1-1 double-overtime draw. The weekend results earned FGCU the No. 18 national ranking in the United Soccer Coaches Poll, while senior midfielder Ryan Medilah captured National Player of the Week honors after recording a hat trick against the Wolverines.
