2018-19 ASUN All-Academic Team

ATLANTA, Ga. -
North Florida's JT Escobar was selected as the ASUN Conference Men's Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year, announced Sunday by the league office. Escobar is joined by eight other Men's Basketball student-athletes on the All-Academic Team.

Escobar, a two-time All-Academic selection, owns a 4.00 cumulative GPA as he studies Criminal Justice in Graduate School in his junior season with the Ospreys. He becomes the second Men's Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year from UNF joining Trent Mackey (2016) and is the fourth two-time ASUN All-Academic selection from North Florida alongside teammate Wajid Aminu.

The Tallahassee, Fla. native is a sharpshooter for the Ospreys as he owns a career three-point shooting percentage of 40.4 in his two years in the River City. This season, Escobar has knocked down 73 triples, which is tied for second in the conference. The junior guard is averaging 10.1 PPG for the Ospreys, who enter the ASUN Championship as the No. 3 seed.

The All-Academic Team recognizes student-athletes who excel both on the field and in the classroom and exemplify the ASUN's mission of Building Winners for Life. All the members of the team boast a 3.30 cumulative grade point average or better and participated in at least half of their team's games.
