  • ASUN Hall of Fame Spotlight: Centenary's Willie Jackson

    Willie Jackson is the final inductee in a series of features highlighting the ASUN Hall of Fame Class of 2016. Jackson, a three-time TAAC Player of the Year, left an incredible mark on the conference, program and NCAA at the end of his career with the Centenary College Men's Basketball program, which lasted from 1980-84. He capped his four years as a Gent with 2,535 career points and 1,013 rebounds and remains one of 20 players in NCAA history with 2,500 points and 1,000 rebounds alongside all-time greats Larry Bird, Oscar Robertson & David Robinson, among others. Jackson will be inducted alongside Daniel Murphy, Cindy Russo and Bill Bibb at the Hall of Fame Induction ceremony on October 17 at the Sawgrass Marriott in Jacksonville, Fla.

A-Sun Assistant Director of Media Relations Wilder Treadway joined the duo as more than 350 student-athletes, administrators and coaches from all three NCAA divisions descended upon the Grand Canyon State.

Six Atlantic Sun student-athletes landed on the All-District 3 Teams, while Jacksonville's Tony Jasick earned the NABC UPS District 3 Coach of the Year distinction.

Damon Lynn registered his fifth career 30-point game and third of the season as the junior guard finished with 31; making six three-pointers including three-straight to open the game.

    NEWARK, N.J. - For the second consecutive season, the NJIT men's basketball team will play in a national postseason tournament. After an historic run to the semifinals of the 2015 CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament (CIT) last season, it was announced Tuesday that the Highlanders will return to the CIT this season and host a first-round game on Wednesday, March 16, at Fleisher Athletic Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. against an opponent yet to be determined.

    FORT MYERS, Fla. - An instant classic took place at Alico Arena on Sunday night as No. 4 FGCU and No. 7 Stetson needed overtime to decide the 2016 Atlantic Sun Men's Basketball Final. The Eagles came away with the victory, 80-78, as All-Tournament Team member Zach Johnson swatted away a game-tying attempt by the Hatters with five seconds left to send Dunk City back to March Madness.
