DELAND, Fla. - Behind an offensive showcase that resulted in 10 runs on the scoreboard, No. 5 North Florida took the victory vs. top-seeded FGCU to advance in the ASUN Conference Baseball Championship and keep its season going in the loser's bracket.

The Ospreys took an early 3-0 lead by the top of the third inning, getting a run in on a bases-loaded HBP and then two-run single from Chris Berry to break things open. FGCU responded quickly though, using a pair of groundouts and then a walk by Kohl Gilmore to tie the game at 3-3 in the bottom half of the third. The slight momentum swing did not last long though, as UNF came back in the fourth for four runs marked by three-straight RBI singles from Tanner May, Tanner Clark and Berry to give the Ospreys a 7-3 lead.

The scoring began to plateau after that point, going until the seventh before more runs were added. FGCU struck for a pair in the bottom half of that frame thanks to a two-run double from All-Freshmen Team member Joe Kinker. But again, North Florida responded with a three-spot of their own in the following half-inning to increase the lead to the eventual final score of 10-5. Ryan Jean pitched the final three innings for UNF, securing his second save of the season while striking out a pair and allowing only two runs.

With the win, North Florida advances to day three of the ASUN Championship where it awaits its next opponent, to be decided later on Wednesday based on results of the final two contests. Regardless of their opponent, the Ospreys are slated to play at 3 PM ET on ESPN+.

FGCU's season ends after claiming the 2019 Regular Season title. The Eagles finish with a record of 34-21 and 16-7 in ASUN action to win the top seed in the postseason. The Eagles featured four members on the All-Conference Second Team including Alex Brait, Hunter McGarry, Keith Stevens and Jay Hayes while Mason Studstill was named First Team All-Conference. Head Coach Dave Tollett collected his fifth Coach of the Year honor after leading the Eagles back into the ASUN Championship after missing last season.
