@ASUNBSB Teams Post Perfect 4-0 Friday Night; JU & UNF Post Walk-Off W's

ATLANTA, Ga. - The second weekend of ASUN Conference Baseball started with a bang as all four teams in action recorded victories. Two of the four came with added thrills as both Jacksonville and North Florida won in walk-off fashion to open up three-game series.

Jacksonville 2, Jacksonville State 1
Liberty 5, Delaware 4
North Florida 4, Fordham 3 (12 inn.)

Liberty won its second-straight contest with a 5-4 victory against Delaware at home. The Flames jumped early on the Blue Hens' pitching, posting all five of their runs in the first two innings before relying on pitching and defense to earn the victory. Logan Mathieu sent the first pair of runs home in the game on an RBI double, scoring Tyler Galazin and Brandon Rohrer in the bottom half of the first. Ayden Karraker continued his strong week with an RBI single in the second, followed by an RBI walk and sacrifice fly to push the lead to 5-0. Andrew McInvale (1-0) earned the win for the Flames after going six innings, giving up two earned runs while stirking out eight hitters. Evan Brabrand came in as the dominant force of the 'pen again, going the final three frames to lock down his first save of the season. Liberty continues its series with Delaware on Saturday in game two of the three-game set.

Down 1-0 in the bottom of the ninth, Jacksonville quickly erased that deficit with four-straight hitters reaching in the bottom half to win 2-1. After two walks to start the frame, Scott Dubrule sent a single into left field that allowed Dakota Julylia to score the tying run. After a pitching change with a 1-0 count, Preseason Player of the Year Angel Camacho came through with a gapper into left center, sending the winning run home to notch the first victory of the season for JU. Ruairi Murphy picked up the victory, going 2/3 of an inning in relief in the ninth to keep the score at 1-0. Tyler Santana was masterful for the Dolphins in his no-decision, pitching seven innings while striking out 10 and allowing the lone run. The series continues tomorrow with a 2 PM tilt in the River City.

FGCU broke out the big bats again after totaling 38 runs through four games, adding 10 more to that total in a blanking of visiting LIU Brooklyn to start a three-game series. The Eagles did most of their damage in the first three innings of the game, totaling seven runs between the second and third to push the lead further and lock down what became a big victory to move to 3-2 on the year. Richie Garcia started the scoring with his first home run of the season, followed by RBI singles and doubles through the heart of the FGCU lineup. Starter Nikolas Bitner was able to cruise to the victory, adding 5.1 innings of work to his season total while shutting out the Blackbirds and striking out four hitters. FGCU looks for another big win with a Saturday morning matchup with LIU to continue the home series.

It took 12 innings, but North Florida grabbed its fourth win of the season with a 4-3 win vs. Fordham to begin a home series. Tanner May drew the walk-off walk to score the winning run, the fourth-straight walk in the bottom of the 12th inning to set up the game-ending score. The Ospreys had led 3-1 in the ninth, but a two-run shot from Fordham tied the game and forced extras. In the final three innings of additional work, UNF was bolstered by its bullpen, led by Eddie Miller who picked up the win after tossing four innings of relief work without allowing a hit and striking out four Rams batters. A twin-bill awaits the two sides now on Saturday with the second game set to be a condensed seven-inning affair as the Ospreys look to continue their torrid start.
