ATLANTA, Ga. - With first pitch set for this weekend, the ASUN Beam Report turns its focus to ASUN Baseball. Last year, the ASUN grabbed national attention with two teams making the NCAA Tournament, including Stetson who advanced to the Super Regionals.
The defending ASUN champion Hatters open the weekend with a home invitational including a matchup with Virginia Tech out of the ACC. Jacksonville, the other team to make the NCAA Tournament last season, opens with a home series vs. Indiana State. Elsewhere in the opening slate are games with three other "Power 5" programs including Missouri, South Carolina, and West Virginia.
Conference newcomer Liberty placed third in the Preseason Coaches poll after moving in from the Big South. FGCU received the final first-place vote while ranking fourth, followed by Kennesaw State and North Florida to round out the top six. The ASUN once again looks to be a multiple-bid league for the NCAA Tournament after sending two schools to the national field for the 10th time since the turn of the century in 2018.
