Stetson Claims Third Straight #ASUNBVB Championship Title

DELAND, Fla. - Top-seeded Stetson claimed its third consecutive ASUN Conference Beach Volleyball Championship with a 3-2 victory over No. 3 FGCU. The Hatters have also won five of the last six titles.

Stetson's No. 5 pair of Rebecca Ingram and Quinci Barker put the Hatters on top early as they defeated Cortney VanLiew and Alayna Ryan, 21-16, 22-20. FGCU's No. 4 pair (Emma Hansen, Giovanna Borgiotti) came back to tie the match (1-1) in an instant three-set classic over Katinka Krahn and Alexa Richardson, 21-23, 21-17, 21-19.

The Eagles went up 2-1 when No. 1 pair Amanda Carroll and Kirstine Garder defeated Stetson's Carly Perales and Sunniva Helland-Hansen in straight sets (21-10, 22-20).

Despite being down, Stetson pulled out three-set victories at No. 2 and 3 pairs to win the match. First to conclude, the Hatters' tandem of Rachel Noble and Ana Costa defeated the FGCU duo of Snowy Burnam and Kayla Whetstone (18-21, 21-19, 15-11). The No. 2 pair of Darby Dunn and Sammee Thomas downed Katherine Puisis and Karissa Rhoades, 21-15, 19-21, 15-5.
