Coastal Carolina Advances in #ASUNBVB Championship

DELAND, Fla. - No. 4 Coastal Carolina advances to the winners bracket of the 2019 ASUN Conference Beach Volleyball Championship after defeating No. 5 Austin Peay Thursday morning, 5-0.

The Chanticleers moved out to an early 2-0 lead as the No. 5 pair of Anett Nemeth and Kalin Eske would down APSU's Mimi Arlington and Caroline Waite in straight sets, 21-11 and 23-21. Just minutes later, CCU's No. 4 tandem of Aleksandra Djuric and Shelby Ladewig disposed of Cori Theiss and Lucy Randall in two sets, 21-13 and 21-16.

CCU clinched the match after CCU's No. 2 pair of Lucy Campbell and Anaiah Boyer defeated APSU's Ciera Koons and Brooke Moore by 21-18 scores in straight sets. Shortly after, the No. 1 pair of Sydney Alvis and Leah Hardeman of Coastal ousted the Governors' Jenna Panning and Haley Turner, 21-14 and 21-19.

The No. 3 pair match between CCU's Kate Federico / Tanner Gauthier and APSU's Ginny Gerig / Chloe Stitt went to three sets with the Chanticleer duo claiming the match 2-1 (19-21, 21-16, 15-12).

The Chanticleers now advance to the winners bracket, where they will battle top seed Stetson this afternoon at 1 PM. The Governors will face the loser of this afternoon's No. 2 North Florida vs. No. 3 FGCU/No. 6 North Alabama contest tomorrow at 9 AM.
