ASUN Cross Country Championship Set for First-Ever ESPN+ Broadcast

ASUN Cross Country Championship Set for First-Ever ESPN+ Broadcast

For the first time in history, the ASUN Conference Men's & Women's Cross Country Championship features a broadcast element as the league office is set to air the conference meet on ESPN+, announced Wednesday by the league office. The championship broadcast goes live from Buckingham Complex in Fort Myers, Fla., at 8:30 AM ET on Nov. 2nd.

Hosted by John Vittas and Jim Vargo, the ASUN Cross Country Broadcast on ESPN+ will feature multiple camera angles from the Men's 8K & Women's 5K race as well as the awards ceremony and post-meet interviews with student-athletes and coaches. The broadcast expands the league's ESPN championship coverage to a 14th sport and is the first-ever ASUN Cross Country broadcast on the ESPN Family of Networks.

The ASUN Conference Cross Country Championship enters its 41st year of competition on the men's side, while the women are set for their 35th running of the league meet. FGCU serves as the championship host for the second time in program history with the previous occurrence in 2012. Last season, Lipscomb captured the women's title for the seventh time in program history, which is tied for most in league history. North Florida earned the men's trophy for the second time as the Ospreys totaled 25 points at Van Cortlandt Park in The Bronx, N.Y.

Fans can find additional coverage of the conference meet by following along via Twitter: @ASUNXCTF or liking the conference on Facebook for photo galleries from the meet. The men's race begins at 8:30 AM ET, while the women follow with a 9:30 AM start time.

The ASUN's partnership with ESPN first began in 1989 with the airing of the league's Men's Basketball Final and has grown exponentially through the conference's ESPN On-Campus Initiative, which began in the fall of 2012. Since its inception, ESPN has collaborated with the ASUN to adopt the conference-wide on-campus production model.
