ATLANTA, Ga. – In the most recent feature of Ted Talks...About, ASUN Conference Commissioner Ted Gumbart discusses the postseason success seen by league teams this year as three Men's Basketball programs have combined for a 5-1 record in postseason play, while North Alabama Women's Basketball is set at appear in the WBI Semifinals in their first season in Division I after victories against Georgia State and Southern Miss.
Liberty registered the ASUN's eighth victory all-time in the NCAA Tournament as the Flames defeated Mississippi State in San Jose on Friday before falling to in-state rival Virginia Tech on Sunday in a close contest. Lipscomb has tallied three victories in the NIT defeating three teams from North Carolina on the road including Davidson, UNC Greensboro and NC State. The Bisons are the second team in league history to reach the NIT Semifinals and first since 1987. NJIT added to the postseason tally as the Highlanders topped Quinnipiac in the CollegeInsider.com Tournament. On Thursday, NJIT squares off against Hampton as the Highlanders can earn their third-ever appearance in the CIT Semifinals and second since joining the ASUN.
Gumbart became the fourth full-time Commissioner of the ASUN Conference in January 2007. He began his service with the conference in 1991 as its first Assistant Commissioner. He was promoted to Associate Commissioner in 1997, and to Senior Associate Commissioner in 2004. With 27 years of experience at the conference level, Gumbart currently serves on a multitude of committees including;
