JU's Hiron Wins Third Straight Honor; CCU's Barrett Earns @ASUNWLax Nod

LakePoint, Ga. - For the fifth-consecutive week and sixth time this season, Jacksonville takes home the ASUN Conference Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week honor as Ashtyn Hiron earns the nod for the third-straight week. Harley Barrett of Coastal Carolina garners Defensive Player of the Week honors, announced by the league office on Tuesday.

Hiron continues her and Jacksonville's rule over the ASUN Player of the Week, as she wins her fifth honor of the year. Last week, she tallied nine goals and three assists for a total of 12 points, helping JU go 2-0 and grab first place in the ASUN. In a first-place battle with Coastal Carolina, Hiron had three goals and three assists. She also had five ground balls and two caused turnovers. This season, Hiron leads the ASUN in points (53), points per game (4.82) and is second in goals (41).

Barrett, the ASUN Preseason Defensive Player of the Year, takes home her second Defensive Player of the Week this year. Barrett totaled 25 saves and a save percentage (SV%) of 49.0, helping CCU go 1-1 last week. In a victory over Old Dominion, she saved 12 of 25 shots for a SV% of 48.0. Barrett also allowed only 13 goals to Jacksonville, under their season average of 16.50. For the year, Barrett leads the ASUN in SV% at 44.8 and is second in saves with 99.
